ABOUT THE PLAY:
Animals Out of Paper, by Rajiv Joseph
Directed by Maureen Towey
Runs through December 19th, 2009
Nominated for a 2009 Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Play. A stunning new work filled with dynamic, funny characters, colorful imagery and emotional power. Origami artist Ilana Andrews has lost a great deal in her life, but the inspiration she seeks is about to walk through the door of her cluttered studio apartment. Suresh is a phenomenally talented high school student whose boredom with calculus is offset by a love of rhyme and a new interest in freestyle folding. Andy is the calculus teacher who brings them together.

“Humorous but touching…” –Time Out New York
“Rajiv Joseph is one of the most refreshing new playwrights I’ve ever encountered.
He’s crafted a substantial play, funny and sad, down-to-earth and unpretentious, with
a great deal of meaning.” – nytheatre.com
