“The Gang” is a group of eight high performing, highly creative organizations based in Boise.  They range from the Boise State Football program to Healthwise, the Ada County Sheriff’s Office and ProClarity/Microsoft, as well as The Gang members lounging with you.  The leaders and members of these creative and successful organizations hold an annual Gang Meeting and the leaders meet periodically during the year to discuss “messy problems” they face. 

They solve problems by mixing ideas from across fields, disciplines and industries to learn from each other and discover new solutions.  Their overall goal: to help Boise build an economy that thrives on creativity and innovation.  Napier’s two most recent books, sold around the world, highlight these organizations as key case studies. 

Join BYP as we Lounge with The Gang.  Connect with proven leaders and emerging young professionals.  Listen to the success stories of local businesses and organizations.  Have fun.  Learn something new.  Engage in the conversation.

Nancy Napier’s new book Insight: Encouraging Aha! Moments for Organizational Success features many stories from “The Gang.”  Her book will be available for sale at the BYP Lounging with “The Gang” event at a special price of $25 for BYP members ($10 off the retail price).

During the Lounging Series – A Panel on Health Care, Dr. Karl Watts mentioned that he was a member of Governor Otter’s Select Committee on Health Care.  The committee’s final report can be found here (2.76 MB, .pdf).

At the Lounging Series – A Panel on Health Care, Dr. Gary Krouth, Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for St. Luke’s Health System, made reference to a health care reform-related presentation he has recently given to several local organizations.

Tomorrow night is the BYP Lounging Series – A Panel on Health Care.  This is a great opportunity to learn from and ask questions of a diverse panel on one of our generations biggest challenges – health care reform.  Some of the questions we’ll hope to answer include:

1.  What is the greatest impediment to meaningful health care reform?

2.  What aspects should health care reform seek to address?

3.  What is the single most important change that can be implemented to decrease health care costs?

4.  What type of incentives should be incorporated into health care reform to ensure increased safety and quality while also decreasing costs?

5.  How will health care reform impact young professionals both in the near future and long term?

Pete is an entrepreneur and visionary with extensive experience building software companies. He has been the founder or co-founder of three software-based businesses and has proven abilities to establish the vision and foster the growth necessary to return significant value to shareholders.

Pete’s software leadership experience spans multiple industries to include energy, finance, and media. Prior to Balihoo, Pete founded Enerx, a software company focused on the energy trading space. Upon selling the company to KW International, a London-based company that builds trading and risk management software for energy markets, he became Executive Vice President of International Operations. Previously, Pete was on the founding team of a financial services software and services firm. Pete holds a bachelors degree in accounting from Villanova University. In any spare time he finds, Pete can be found mountain biking in the Boise foothills and skiing in the central Idaho mountains.
