The City of Boise recently received notice from the U.S. Dept. of Transportation that it did not receive funding for its grant application under the TIGER stimulus program for the first phase of the proposed streetcar system.  What happens now? Dr. Robin Dodson is student services director at the L.S. Skaggs Pharmacy Complex at the Idaho State University-Meridian Health Science Center and serves as advisor to the academic dean.

Topic: THE CORE and Idaho State University

The ISU Molecular Research Core Facility (MRCF), with its state-of-the-art instrumentation and ever-expanding array of services, provides ISU’s molecular scientists with the resources necessary for successful and productive research pursuits in this rapidly growing field. The MRCF also acts as a center of intellectual exchange for ISU’s community of scientists and serves to promote collaboration and multidisciplinary approaches to specific research initiatives.

Unless you were in Boise in the late seventies and early eighties it is hard to imagine that downtown Boise has looked any different from what it is today. However the reality is that it has taken well over 25 years to create a vibrant core with the amenities, services and activity we see today.

Downtown Boise is now the center of business, government, health care, education and culture for a multistate area, with a bustling entertainment and retail business segment. Today downtown has over 300 retail, restaurant and service orientated businesses at street level and well over 400 commercial businesses in a sixty block area.

Downtown is well positioned to take downtown Boise to the next level. Positioning downtown for the next 25 years is a lot easier than it was 25 years ago, building on the successes in place.
