Community & Civic Involvement

The Boise Young Professionals Community and Civic Involvement (C&CI) Work Team’s role is to provide opportunities for our members to become more involved in the Boise community through volunteer projects and political-related events.  Events and projects vary from year-to-year.  Below is a list of some of this year’s projects:

“Unplugged” Forum – The “Unplugged” Forum is designed to encourage a discussion with the Boise Mayor and/or other elected officials. This event is offered at no cost to BYP members and allows local YPs a chance to hear from and ask questions to the local elected officials. The elected official is asked to open with a 15-20 minute address to the YPs of the region and then opens the event for 45 minutes of Q & A.

Boise Ironman 70.3 Aid StationThe annual Boise Ironman 70.3 needs hundreds of volunteers to make the event a success.  BYP mans an aid station each year along the run portion of the course.

Shakespeare Festival Volunteer Opportunity
One of our more popular volunteer events, we spend an evening volunteering at the Shakespeare Festival showing people to their seats, collecting garbage at intermission, etc.

Boise State Campus Tour with Boys and Girls Club
This volunteer project is in the works.  We will be conducting a campus tour this fall for children with the Boys and Girls Club – we hope to get them excited about “going on” after high school.

YMCA Halloween Carnival
Partnering with the downtown YMCA, BYP puts together a Halloween carnival that is open to all members of the community.

The C&CI Work Team also helps coordinate luncheons throughout the year related to volunteerism and local politics.

The Work Team is open to all BYP members.  Work Team meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month from 5:30-6:30 pm in the CSHQA conference room (6th floor of the CW Moore building, 250 S. 5th St., Boise, ID 83702).
