Looking to get involved? Curious what it takes to be part of a commission, committee or board? Join Boise Young Professionals’ b|On Board program. Now in its fourth year, this three-week training series is designed to inform Boise professionals about how to engage with organizations around the community.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Discover your passions and interests
  • Demystify board service
  • Understand differences between government, nonprofit and corporate boards
  • Learn valuable skills for volunteer and board service opportunities from local experts
  • Connect with Idaho organizations seeking volunteers, committee members and board members
  • Enhance presentation skills

Cost:
$50.00 for BYP Members and Dues Paying Leadership Boise Alumni
$75 for Non-BYP Members

  • Tuesday, April 4 – b|On Board Night 1 – Introduction to board service & panel discussion
  • Tuesday, April 11 – b|On Board Night 2 – Training Series
  • Tuesday, April 18 – b|On Board Finale – Board service fair

Week 1 – Introduction to Board Service – April 4

Learn what interests you, what excites and scares you, your passions and how those translate to civic engagement. Then, demystify board service and learn about different kinds of boards from a panel of corporate, government and nonprofit board members from Idaho organizations.

Opening Speaker: Ray Stark, Senior Vice President, Government & Community Relations, Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce


Week 2 –Skills Development – April 11

Start collecting and polishing your skills during the second night of b|On Board. Local experts will teach  15-minute breakout sessions on diverse skills needed for volunteer, committee and board service.

Opening Speaker: Nora Carpenter, President & CEO, United Way of the Treasure Valley


Week 3 – Board Service Fair – April 18

The final evening of the b|On Board series is all about applying new skills. Participants will have the opportunity to meet area board members and professionals at a reception and networking fair.  This is an opportunity to connect with local organizations looking to add young professionals.

Previous b|On Board graduates are welcome to join us on this evening to meet other like-minded young professionals and make new connections with local organizations.
